Trollkin Runeshapers

The Trollkin Runeshapers are a very cool looking unit.  One think I have learned when painting trolls is that they have TONS of little fiddly details.  Leather straps, buckles, armor studs, and more.  These guys have lots of glowing blue on them in the runes and eyes.  I'm missing the rock piece on the leader, and I will add it once I find it.

WIP: Kriel Warriors

Here are a few Kriel Warriors, a weapon attachment, and the piper from the UA.  I decided to give them a very plain and drab color scheme to accent that they are just the rank and file trollkin warriors.  Their kilts will bring some color with red and blue.

Big Angry Troll

The Earthborn Dire Troll.  Such an angry troll.  I tried to capture the pissed off feel of the sculpt by going with a very bloody mouth and red glowing eyes.  Lots of drybrushing to get the gradients in the skin.  I think he looks decidedly pissed off.

Skaldi Bonehammer and Grim Angus

Over the last couple of days, I have slowly working up these two characters.  These were my first attempts at the kilt line work, and I am pretty pleased with the initial results.

Skaldi came together pretty easily.  He has a pretty washed out palette, so I did the runes on his vest in a vibrant blue.  He also has blue gems on his hammer.  A red, green, and black kilt finishes him off.

Grim Angus was a fun challenge.  I deviated heavily from the studio concept, giving him a desaturated green skin tone, striped trousers, and blue, red, and black kilt.  I think he is a nice mix of dusky woodsman colors and bright, in-your-face blues.  His runes are also a bright blue.  I think that concept will carry through the army.

The Summer of Trollbloods

Geno's Trollbloods

Earlier this year, a friend from my local gaming group came to me with a request to paint up his Trollbloods.  Having wanted to paint Trolls for a while, I jumped at the opportunity.  Little did I know just how many Trolls he had.  So, this has become the Summer of Trollbloods.  He wanted them painted up in an Orky style, so we are going with green skin and lots of metal armor.  So far I am enjoying the project and having lots of fun.
